Centennial Square Revitalization

Project scope

Centennial Square is being revitalized to create a more versatile and welcoming public space that can support a diverse range of recreation, community and cultural events and programs. Planned improvements include: 

  • A new, central water feature  
  • A stage and open lawn  
  • More trees greenery, and shade areas  
  • Moveable furniture and ample seating 
  • Improved walkways and connections through the Square  
  • Replacing an underground water main 

Why now?

Constructed in the mid-1960s, Centennial Square is the City of Victoria’s main civic, ceremonial and recreational plaza. In July 2024, Council directed staff to proceed with revitalization plans informed by robust community engagement that took place in 2018.
